York University's Undergraduate Philosophy Student Association

Hello everyone! We will be hosting the much anticipated Philosophy of Mind discussion for our upcoming meeting this Monday! We will be kicking it off with a brief recap of core ideas and problems before opening it up to discussion.

When: Monday November 9th from 6:00-8:00pm
Where: South Ross S421

Here is a sample of some of the questions we shall be tackling together:
– What is the mind/body problem and is it reconcilable?
– Will we ever in principle be able to understand another person’s subjective conscious experience (qualia)?
– How can we truly know other minds exist?
– What is Panpsychism and how could it resolve the mind/body problem?
– Can consciousness ever be explained reductively through neuroscience?

We hope to have our friends from psych and cogsci to contribute some different perspectives to these long standing philosophical questions. Looking forward to seeing you all there!
